What advantage does the bib design have over shorts?

I find that having the bib short is much more comfortable than regular short because it help keep the up. Thus not showing your plumbers crack to the world at 20-30 mph

hmmm... while I can think of some advantages... I think it would be better to not have a public viewing of that area.

Bibs allowing a loser fit in the waist and are more accommodating on weight changes, but the downside is that you have to pull up a leg of the shorts to pee and undress to poop. Still, once you wear properly fitting bibs you'll never wear shorts again.

I though you pooped down the leg also...maybe that explains the stains......

I found that the waist line of the shorts would roll down after a while in the saddle and I had to adjust more. Where as with the bibs I have no issues other than the bathroom issue.
