Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
Hey guys,
Any one heading out to do this? It is this weekend and from what I have gathered from a few people is this is the best marathon around here and the trails are supposed to be great but not well known.

Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
I don't own a bike gps, just one for the car. I am going to see what I can do about finding one but otherwise I am sure someone out there will record the route.

It is not far at all. Google maps say half hour but it probably isn't even that long. I will iron everything out with my wife tomorrow morning when she gets off and let you know.

Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
Well, it looks like I am in for it as long as they allow it. Let me know if you are interested in carpooling. I don't think I am going to do the 100k. I will probably just do like 75 and then have a beer. Let me know what you think.

Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
What time do you want to leave? Do you want to drive or do you want me to? I have a mini van that can hold three bikes and people. Let me know!
Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
what is your plan for distance and registration? I was debating about going tonight to register because I was told the line was long for day of last year. I will probably just wing it and register tomorrow.
If you could drive that would be great. My wife might come out later so I might not need a ride home.
It looks like it starts at 8:30. So I don't know what time you think we should get there. I think at latest by 7:30.

Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
Well I have finally recovered enough to write about the Wasgau marathon. First I want to thank Slim83 for the invite and putting up with my slow butt. I am glad you decide to ride ahead. I will have to get out and train more for the next one.
The was a great ride even if I cramped right after the 2nd Feed zone with only about 10k left. I was able to work them out and finish the course with out walking it back in.
There was some great single track on alot of climbs. Almost 7,000ft Yes I said 7 thousand feet of climbing for the 75km.
Here is the profile from my Garmin.

Re: Wasgau MTB Marathon
Looks like it was a hell of a ride Jim. Avg spd= 8.4mph and Avg HR=155. I'll have to get some more miles in and join for the next one!
