OK guys and girls... I know everyone is getting itchy for the upcoming season. I don't have any solid info just yet, but I received an e-mail the Aviano race weekend may be as early at 18-19 April. I have put word in to see if I can get my hands on a tentative schedule so we can start planning the road trips. Looks like I have a good reason to really get on the trainer; just gotta find 1 more hour in the day... Laughing

I will tell you that the meeting is in two weeks and when they have it I will get some info. I already heard from a reliable source that the Championship race will be in Hoenfels not Garmisch. You know the Course they want us to help set up.

I think the distance for the series race should be around 40k and the Championship race should be 50-60 k long.

What are your thougths.

Does anybody want to make a team so that we can start training together? This would be a great time to start. Do 2-4 hours on the weekend on both the Road and MTB.

I am down for a team. Mostly road, but I will still do the MTB as well. If anything I can crash and fall in front of a big group to give the rest of us a lead...

2009 US Armed Forces Road and Mountain Biking season Empty Hohenfels

I rode in 6 races this year and Hohenfels was by far the best track to ride I think. It was real technical and fun.

I think if you put the race at more than 30 K you will alienate some of the weekend warriors and folks who just try a race out for the heck of it. A lot of participants I saw in the series were first time riders, kinda like me. 20-30 km are good distances.

I'd love to train as a team and be more competitive this year. I'm unable to commit until mid March though. At that point I will be back and ready to go!

I am trying to get them to put two races on during the weekend.
One being a MTB and the other being a Road or Crit. If the don't like road then reverse the direction for the course for the next day. But I think they should be 30 to 40 km if only one race then it needs to be 40-50km. They could always have shorter races for a beginner class.

Yes 20 k race is to short for us that have been riding and racing for more that a year. But we need to get the young kids and beginners out there as well. They need to set up two classes for racing beginners and seasoned rider. 20 k is to short I agree

Do you think there is enough interest and participation to get a field large enough for a beginner and advanced race?

Where are you guys getting 20K from? The Aviano race is 5 laps (or was it 6 laps), each lap being 6 miles... 5x6=30 miles which is equal to something like 50K... The MTB race was like 30K... if I remember correctly...

Yes those are correct numbers. But some of last years races where short. No I don't think the fields will be big enough but everybody would start at the same time anyhow just cut one lap for the others and use a different number. Or just put on a two race week all the time.
