recs for a trainer?
In an ever-present effort to squeeze more training into less time, I'm putting a trainer in my office for the winter.
This is my first trainer, and like everyone else I want the best bang for my buck.
I've been looking at fluid trainers, and although its pretty cheap, the Performance Bike seems to have pretty good reviews.
Any thoughts on or experiences with reasonably priced trainers out there?

Re: recs for a trainer?
I use rollers, but rollers vs. trainers is a hotly contested debate. Rollers require focusing your attention on balance, position, and a smooth, circular spin (that is the benefit). Resistance is varied by gear selection. There is a learning curve, but not much. Fluid/mag/fan trainers are by far more popular, probably due to ease of use, extra gadgetry, and small storage footprint. You can hook them up to your PC, use climbing blocks, and not worry about getting wobbly as much. Any others want to weigh in?

i thought about rollers too, but i wanted something that didn't require me to be as focused on balance, etc plus the storage space issue too...

Re: recs for a trainer?
Storage shouldn't be an issue for either. You can get rollers and trainers that fold and fit under beds or in closets. I have both. It only took a few minutes to figure out the rollers. I seem to get more of a workout on the rollers through cadence consistency. If you get lazy with a trainer you don't fall over lol. I do like the ability to make the resistance harder on the trainer though. I couldn't decide so I have both Good luck deciding.

Re: recs for a trainer?
I guess the question then is: will rollers or a trainer make me faster than Kendall?
Kendall: which trainer do you use?

Re: recs for a trainer?
For trainers get fluid if possible, mag as a backup. You don't want an air resistance trainer. Way too loud. Other than that, my only rec would be to pick up a spare rear wheel and put a beat up tire on it as trainers eat tires for lunch. Last tip is not to use a patched tube in a trainer. The glue releases and you will get a flat.
