Chris,
Being that this was your idea, I would like to help you carry the torch with this one if that would be ok. You mentioned phaty was interested in doing something and I spoke to him in regards to it. And I quote form phaty " I made a promise to Chris and I will keep it" he is down for doing something for SiS 10. So I would love to put something together with my website, the RACC crew,Phaty, and whoever else we can get involved with this to raise awareness and money for the Fisher House. So I would love to hear what you had in miond with this Chris, as well as any input from the other RACCers so we can do this for next year. So what do you think?

This is great, I have heard back from Fisher House HQ, and they are all for whatever we put together. So now I need some input, as far as locations, event or events(MTB, Road, Combined). I know the Spandalhem guys are interested but most of them are coming up on deployment cycle. So if we do this we could do it after the 1st of the year and give us time to get all the logistics worked out so we can make this something special. My initial thought process is something road so families with little ones can be involved. But I would love to get feedback from anyone who wants to help. The more input and help the better.

You all should ask the mayor of Schopp and put together a 6hr MTB race at the velodome. They have the World Cup course that brings you through the velodrome on each lap. If you wanted to make it a solo, duo, four man you could always have the exchange area in the field just below the velodrome. It would be great PR for the village & maybe some of the organizations on base would want to run some food booths. I also think that MWR would chip in some bouncy castles for the kiddos:) I think that if you put it out in the KA, Stars & Stripes & to the German news media (www.mountainbikemarathon.de) you could have a great American/German event. I bet if you get with Phatty he would assist you with translations & whatever meetings are required with the town officials.

During my time in the KMC I always wanted to see a American-German endurance event much like SIS but during the day; & I can't think of a better place. Good Luck with whatever you all decide!

You could do it in the Spring (May - June) ..... I'm sure that it will take some time to get all the logistics in order. The earlier you start organizing the better turn out and event you will have. As for the German Laws (Insurance) get with Phatty and see what help he can offer. I think that Spangdahlem has a training area called Oberweise (SP?) If that's consisered base property it may be easier to do it there. When I was stationed there I had a 10km training loop I did and I think there is plenty of parking by the paintball course.
