New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Alright, I'm gonna get this project off the ground. What I need from everyone is just a basic idea of what they want and the quantity of the items, EX: 2 short sleeve jerseys, 2 shorts, 1 bib short, 2 knickers, 1 vest, 1 jacket etc. I'm looking at two companies right now, one has prices the other dosn't because they price everything based off of quantity.
I'm designing a very basic "retro" look jersey, basically 3 colors. I'm looking at a forest green main color, white stripe on chest and back along with black border stripes. It will have RAMSTEIN on front and back, possibly KAISERSLAUTERN on sleeves and/or side panels. Lettering will be black on front and back, white on side panels and sleeves. Font will be something that has a "german" look. There will be matching colored stripes on sleeves and collar. Shorts will be plain black with RAMSTEIN on side panels and KAISERSLAUTERN on back panel. Lettering will be in white. I'm also going to have a small german slogan put on the back center pocket...I saw this somewhere and think it's pretty straight forward and might motivate some who might not feel like riding at a certain time due to silly reasons (you know who you are, LOL), Trent let me know if the spelling is correct... "DER RESTERT, RUSTERT!" Simple translation..."THOSE WHO REST, RUST!"
I've looked at other color matches, but I feel this color scheme is simple, bold and represents the riding area we spend the majority of our time in (whether on the trails or road), and will stand out from the rest of the "busy" jerseys out there.
So get the word out, pass out the cards and let people know new kits will be ordered soon. Start saving your money...

I think it actually means: Wer rastet, der rostet. A rolling stone gathers no moss.
Sounds even better!
I will check with the translator for sure...before we make arses of ourselves at races!
Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
I'm looking at ATAC and Champion Systems right now, I looked at Mt Borah, but if you look at the photos the sleeves look goofy, thay are not tight around the arms and flap in the wind, not a fan of that. Champion Systems seem to have the best ordering, with low minimums and if someone wants one particular item you don't have to have everyone buy that item, 10 main items then you can purchase one of this or that. They also have two styles of main jerseys, "pro" and "club". I will be calling ATAC tonight to see what the process is, I mean it's pretty simple but I need t ask them a few questions. This is all preliminary and will go with the company that has the better of the deals, low minimums, good quality, and ease of ordering and of course the price. So again get me your wish list so I can get an idea of what will be purchased. There are a few other companies that I will look in to as well.
Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Trent check on this...
"Wer rastet, der rostet!"
If it dosn't come out right in german than I'll keep it in english.
He who rests, rust!

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
I'll start off with 2 SS, 1 LS Jersey, 1 Bib, and a Windtex... all in Large (Euro sizes of course)... I'm banking on this being a project that will have the stuff here in the spring.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
I'll take 2 SS 2 bibs and on long ss. and A wind or rain jacket.
Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
what will the shorts/bib setup look like? Will it be single color or multi color?
I'd be interested in 1 SS jersey, 1 LS jersey, shorts and possibly a windtex or something like that.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Chris, Here are my experiences, for what it's worth, with ATAC and Champ-Sys. The ATAC short are the worst I've ever used. The chamois is very poorly designed and will certainly give you sores every time you ride in them. This is due to the stitching and shape of the chamois. There's kind of a point on the outer edge of the chamois where two layers come together and it will rub a sore on each cheek for sure. The HACC guys went with ATAC a year or two ago and they never wore the team shorts after the first ride. The jerseys and everything else were fine, just steer clear of the short and bibs.
I have several sets of Champ-Sys gear. The best thing about Champ-Sys is the ordering and price. They make things SUPER easy, but you have to do your own art. Buy like 10 of one item and you can get anything else you want without minimums. Great prices compared to other companies. No set-up fees. Unlimited colors. Free shipping if you order something like $500 or more. All that adds up and makes Champ-Sys the cheapest by far. As for quality, its okay. The jerseys are good. The vests are okay but aren't as well cut to form as other companies. You get a bunching up of material in front when in the drops. The shorts and bibs I could take or leave. They fit weird. They tend to wrinkle a bit in front, if that makes any sense. It's like they aren't fitted and cut to form to fit as anatomically as better shorts and the back of the shorts is a bid low riding unless you go with bibs. The chamois is okay, not the worst but certainly not the best I've used. The ends of the legs aren't as stretchy as I'd like and fit fairly snug. The seams are a bit rigid and unwilling to stretch to a snug fit. The shorts fit tight, at least for me with size small. The Champ-Sys in small is much smaller than the GSG smalls from the last RACC order.
If you can meet the minimums, I've always liked Voler. They're a bit more expensive but I really like the shorts with the top chamois.
Just my 2 cents. Glad to see a new design in the works. If there's anything I can do to help, just give me a shout.
BTW, I'd be interested in a SS, LS and bibs (maybe more) if the design looks good.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Les, thanks for the insight, but I don't give a rats ass what you think!!! Just kidding LMAO!!!!!! No thats good info, Dave said the Spang guys didn't like their Champ Sys, I'm also looking at a company out of England called Omayo, I saw a few guys riding with their stuff and it dosn't look to bad, but don't know much about them. Voler makes good stuff too, I also like Louis Garneau, but like you said they are a little pricier but the quality is good. I have a draft of what the jersey will look like and will post it as soon as I figure out how. Also, can you give me the contact info for GSG.
Shady, shorts will be plain black with "RAMSTEIN" on the side panels and "KAISERSLAUTERN" on the back panel as of now. That may change, maybe matching stripes on the cuffs.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Why KAISERSLAUTERN on the back? Why not RACC? Anywho I can say that I love my Hammer stuff and it's Voler. I'd be willing to pay more for better quality. As for the GSG I think their clothing is designed for little greasy Itailian dudes:) I'd stay away from the Euro cut....

Yes, but Santini is awesome...just order xxl

Chopperguth wrote:Why KAISERSLAUTERN on the back? Why not RACC?
haha, not all of us have as much room on our backside like Tim. I don't think KAISERLAUTERN will fit on the back of my shirts.
I was trying to be subjective with the Champ-Sys description. Their big selling point is ease of ordering and no extra fees but they lack in quality. We used Santini for the Aviano team for a couple years. Very good stuff but it was expensive and dealing with the Italian rep made me want to kill someone. I don't think I have the GSG info here at home but I'll dig a round a bit. I definitely have it at work and will get it to you NLT Monday. The rep Tobias was easy to deal with, let me use a VAT form and spoke good English. The biggest problem I had was the sizing. It is a very euro cut. The other thing to consider is the euro rate. I hear it's getting better but while I love the quality and price of the GSG stuff, I think I'd go with a US company like Voler simply to use the dollar and get a more "club fit" that most of the riders like.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
The GSG website has been updated since the last RACC order. I'll get you the rep's email tomorrow.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
As of right now I think I'm gonna go with Voler, it will be a little more $$ but the quality is very good. They do have a 25 item minimum order, I'll send out more info, but you can go to the Voler web site and see the prices and all. Once I get ahold of them tonight I'll post more info. In the mean time, start thinking of all the items you will/may want. Don't just think of summer kits, make sure you think of the cold weather riding items also. We may be able to get this order in and still use some cold weather items for later in the season. I'll post the tentative design hopefully later today. Get the word out to your cycling friends stationed else where, they may want some stuff themselves. Think of your spouse and family, it's good stuff to do the car free days and have everyone represent the RACC.
Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
Cool... tell Voler you want the same padding as the Hammer gear.

Future Jersey
I'd be willing to pony up for 2 shorts, 1 long sleeve jersey, and 1 short sleeve. Medium sizes across the board. I'm really interested in the design. The text isn't that important to me. I have native language experience and assistance if you're looking for the slogan/translations.

Re: New RACC Kits (Jersey/shorts etc)
I don't hate the Champ-Sys stuff. We wore them all this year and once you figure out the sizes, it's not too bad. The only sizing problem is with the legs. I normally wear a large bib, but the legs fit really tight. No, I don't have monster thighs! I went with an extra large and they fit fine in the legs, but loose up top. Hector, dealt with our logistics, so he has the specifics, but I really like the company and they have nice jackets. I would like to get one of your kits once you get then nailed down!
